On the 31st of August, staff of Indian Premier League (IPL) team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) tested negative for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. This is a big relief for the team since the past one week.

After Suresh Raina pulled out of the IPL 2020 due to personal issues, team members testing positive of COVID-19 was a major blow to the CSK.

Speaking about the Suresh Raina issue, he quit the IPL 2020 due to a violent attack, which happened to his family in Punjab.

Suresh Raina took to Twitter and said, “What happened to my family in Punjab was beyond horrible. My uncle was slaughtered to death, my bua and both my cousins had severe injuries. Unfortunately my cousin also passed away last night after battling for life for days. My bua is still very very critical and is on life support. ”

Suresh Raina took to his Twitter handle and said, “Till date we don’t know what exactly had happened that night and who did this. I request @PunjabPoliceInd to look into this matter. We at least deserve to know who did this heinous act to them. Those criminals should not be spared to commit more crimes. @capt_amarinder @CMOPb.”

Soon after Suresh Raina’s exit, nearly 13 members including two players Ruturaj Gaekwad and Deepak Chahar tested positive for the COVID-19 infection and were isolated in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE.)

Initially, the team was supposed to start practice for the IPL 2020 from the 28th of August, but due to COVID-19 situation, the team was sent to one week extra quarantine.

Despite testing negative for the COVID-19 infection, the team has been asked to be isolated until the next test.

Another test for the Novel Coronavirus would be conducted on the 3rd of September.

After the results of the 3rd September’s test, the team could start training.

It is likely that the CSK would start training from the 5th of September.

However, Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaekwad would have to wait and could start training post 12th of September, as they need to complete 14 days isolation.

The IPL 2020 is scheduled to begin from the 19th of September and continue till the 10th of November in Abu Dhabi, the UAE.

Stay tuned for further updates.
