Cricketer Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against Sri Lanka.
On the 9th of January, Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued an official statement and confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah would not be a part of the Indian squad for the Sri Lanka ODI series. The BCCI statement read, “Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the upcoming 3 match ODI series against Sri Lanka. It is to be noted, in the last two matches, Jasprit Bumrah complained of a stiff back, following which the BCCI Medical Staff suggested rest for Bumrah. The medical team also said that Jasprit Bumrah is yet to fully recover from the back fracture he sustained earlier, during a practice match.
The decision to rule out Jasprit Bumrah was also taken considering the upcoming Australia series and Gavaskar Trophy match. A senior BCCI official, who wished to be anonymous said, “Bumrah hasn’t travelled with the team to Guwahati. He still needs some more time to get back to full fitness as he will be needed during the Australia Test series.”
Meanwhile, the India-Sri Lanka ODI series is set to begin on the 10th of January, Tuesday, at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, Assam.
