Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, expressed delight over the selection of world boxing champion Ms. Nikhat Zareen for the prestigious ‘Arjuna Award’.
Recently the Government of India named Ms. Nikhat Zareen for the prestigious Award among other sports awards. On the 14th of November, the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports announced boxer Ms. Nikhat Zareen for the Arjuna Award. She is amongst 25 other nominees of the Arjuna Awards in the sports field.
In an official statement issued on the 16th of November, the Telangana Chief Minister KCR said Nikhat Zareen, who brought laurels to the country by recording consecutive victories in women’s boxing, was well deserved to receive the Arjuna Award. He added, the entire nation was proud of this sportsperson from Telangana.
Ms. Nikhat Zareen has been selected for her breakthrough year and won gold at the World Championships as well as at the Common Wealth Games (CWG) 2022.
The nominees will receive their awards from the President of India at a function at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the 30th of November 2022.
