The poster for the cricket tournament went viral two days after being held in Hyderabad. The poster was circulated on all social media platforms including Twitter. The tournament was held on the 25th of December and the 26th of December.
The ‘Brahmin Cricket Tournament’ was held at BSR Grounds in Bandlaguda area of Hyderabad, Telangana.
The poster also mentioned people interested in joining the tournament must carry their ID cards. The players from other castes were also not allowed to participate except for Brahmins.
The poster with all the guidelines and rules went viral on Twitter gaining different types of hate comments.
Netizens lashed out at the organisers for being casteist.
However, according to the media, the organisers were allowed to put up such guidelines and mention of Brahmins ‘Only.’ They also added that they don’t see why the event is being met with such outrage.
This is not the first time a Brahmin cricket tournament was being held in India. Caste based cricket tournaments are now a common thing in Indian society.
