Sourav Ganguly, the former Captain of the Indian Cricket Team, once again criticised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for issuing a conflict of interest notice against Rahul Dravid.

D.K. Jain, the Ethics Officer of the BCCI, on the 6th of August, issued the notice against Rahul Dravid.

Rahul Dravid is an Indian cricketer and the head of the National Cricket Academy’s Cricket Operations.  He is also the Vice President of India Cements Group (ICG,) the owner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Chennai Super Kings, due to which, he received the conflict of interest notice.

According to the notice, Rahul Dravid has contradictory interests and the BCCI needs an explanation for his conflict of interest as to how he could serve as the Vice President of the ICG.

The BCCI asked Rahul Dravid to respond to the notice within two weeks from the 6th of August.  The notice was issued after Sanjay Gupta, a member of the Cricket Association of Madhya Pradesh, complained against Rahul Dravid for the same.

Sourav Ganguly, who is known for his satirical comments against unfair decisions by the BCCI, took to Twitter and said, “New fashion in Indian cricket …..conflict of interest ….Best way to remain in news …god help Indian cricket ……Dravid Gets Conflict of Interest Notice from BCCI Ethics Officer (sic.)”

Harbhajan Singh, a cricketer of Indian Cricket Team, also supported Sourav Ganguly and said, “Really ?? Don’t know where it’s heading to.. u can’t get better person than him for Indian cricket. Sending notice to these legends is like insulting them.. cricket need their services for betterment.. yes god save Indian cricket (sic.)”

This is not the first time the BCCI issued a notice regarding the conflict of interest.  Previously, legendary player Sachin Tendulkar also got a notice for his dual role as a Cricket Advisory Committee member and as the mentor of the IPL team Mumbai Indians.

Sanjay Gupta was the one who filed the complaint against Sachin Tendulkar as well.  Now, he filed a complaint against Rahul Dravid.

Apart from Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly also got a notice from the BCCI for being the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and being the mentor of the IPL team Delhi Capitals.

Stay tuned for further updates.
