Sourav Ganguly, the former Captain of the Indian Cricket Team, will be announced as the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on the 23rd of October.
On the 14th of October, Ganguly filed nominations for the topmost post with the BCCI members. Since Sourav was the only candidate who filed nominations and was unopposed, he is expected to win the elections for the BCCI President post.
Sourav Ganguly was accompanied by N. Srinivasan, the former BCCI President, Niranjan Shah, the International Cricket Council (ICC) Chief and Rajeev Shukla during the filing of nominations.
Sourav Ganguly said, “I didn’t know I would be the president. You (reporters) asked me and I told you it’s (former India middle-order batsman) Brijesh (Patel) and when I went up and I came to know it has changed. I have never been in a BCCI election and I never knew it worked like this.”
Arun Dhumal is likely to be the new treasurer of the BCCI, whereas Jay Shah will be the new Board Secretary of the BCCI.
Sourav Ganguly took to Twitter and posted a picture with the new team with the caption, “The new team at. @bcci .. hopefully, we can work well .. Anurag Thakur thank you for seeing this through.”
