The Indian Cricket Team, on the 23rd of August, played the 1st innings of the test matches against the West Indies.

On the second day of the first test match, Team India was leading with 108 runs and scored 297 runs in 96.4 overs whereas, West Indies scored 189 runs in 59 overs, as the match was called off due to rain.

Speaking about the performances of the Indian Cricket Team, Rishabh Pant was out early, while Ravindra Jadeja played an impressive innings and scored 58 runs with the help of tailenders  and established good partnerships.

Speaking about his game plan, Jadeja said he was just trying to focus on his game and build a partnership with tailenders to score well during the match.  He also spoke to Ishant and planned the strategy of the game.

In the test match, Jasprit Bumrah became the fastest Indian bowler to scalp 50 wickets in a test match and Ishant became the man of the match with his outstanding performance.

Sourav Ganguly, the former Captain of the Indian Cricket Team appreciated the performance of the team and shared some insight about Virat Kohli, the Captain of the Indian Cricket Team.

Ganguly said, “Virat needs to just be a bit more consistent— pick players and give them a bit more consistent opportunities — for them to get that confidence, rhythm, I have said that before. You saw how Shreyas Iyer played in that ODI series (against West Indies,) you pick him and you give him the freedom to play those matches and I think that needs to happen with a lot of players and I am sure Virat will do that.”

The 1st Test match will be over on the 27th of August, whereas the West Indies Tour 2019 will continue till the 4th of September.

Stay tuned for further updates about the West Indies Tour 2019.
