In the race to the finish line, where telecom networks are in a war against providing best plans to the users, the competitors are coming up with various strategies to overrun each other. In this war, Jio came up with the ‘Dhan Dhana Dhan’ plan after TRAI put an end to the ‘Summer Surprise.. Now, Airtel has come up with a plan to face Jio.
Airtel announced a new pack with unlimited data and calls. The Rs. 244 pack offers 1 GB data for 70 days with unlimited calls. This competes with the Rs. 309 plan that was introduced by Jio. The new plans available on the website are Rs. 499 plan, which competes with Jio’s Rs. 509 plan. This offers 1.25 GB data with a validity of 70 days.
The telecom company Airtel, went as far as terming the Jio plans as ‘Old Wine in new Bottle.’ The company also filed a complaint with the Telecom Dispute Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) as to why the Jio company has not yet discontinued ‘Summer Special’ offer as per the advice of TRAI.
A spokesperson for Airtel said, “We are surprised to see what Jio is doing. It violates the spirit of the TRAI directive and essentially continues with a similar plan now masquerading under a different name. This is a classic example of old wine in a new bottle.”
The company also said that with the drastic changes happening in the telecom industry and the raging war between services provided, they do not see any long term customers or benefits.
