Technology, the more it helps people the more it harms if used mindlessly. Intentionally or unintentionally it has caused trouble to innocent people over time. This time, the offenders are none other than the popular All India Bakchod.
They have come to fame with their unconventional approach towards everyday issues in life and their comic timing. However, a little misstep by them has caused a woman tremendous trouble over the last few months.
In May 2017, the AIB published a video that went immensely viral for its hilarity. The video titles ‘If Apps were People’ became a huge hit with the audience, but put Rohina Chhabra of Jaipur, in a nightmare. The video displayed Rohina’s, 28, number as Rohan Joshi’s, who incidentally has a huge fan following, both men and women alike.
Speaking to a popular news daily, Rohina said, “All of a sudden one day I began being bombarded with calls. I realized something was amiss when one of the callers informed me that my number was displayed in an AIB video.” Rohina also said that she received approximately 50 calls on a day.
She added, “The abusive language in the video made matters worse, as callers demanded to speak to Rohan. It was traumatic. I had to take care of my newborn and was fed up of informing the callers that it was a wrong number.”
After facing immense trouble, Rohina filed a FIR against AIB at the Karnivihar police station. The FIR mentions the members of AIB, Tanmay Bhatt, Rohan Joshi, Ashish Shakya and also Gursimran Khamba. They have been booked under the Indian Penal Code Section 66 C of Information Technology Act, which deals with Punishment for identity theft.
The group, when approached about the same, a spokesperson said “As soon as the police informed us about the incident, we made sure that the subtitle with the contact number is blurred and the dialogue is beeped. We agree that it was a mistake but we did not intend to harm anyone.”
Superintendent of Jaipur West, Ashok Kumar Gupta said, “We will inquire about the incident and adequate action will be taken in this regard.”These kinds of mixups tend to happen when making videos. There have been issues with AIB in the past too, be it Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh Roast or Tanmay Bhatt’s imitation of Sachin Tendulkar and Lata Mangeshkar.
These kinds of mixups tend to happen when making videos. But the videos were done in good humor and caused no harm to innocent. But this goof up by the group caused trouble to a new mother and an innocent woman, which the group is now trying to rectify.
