Panic! On the science front. The arctic ocean is facing the worst global warming ever and the ice has started melting at a very alarming rate. As many as 100 scientists warned that the Ocean could be ice free by 2040.
Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme, after assessing the situation said the Arctic is warming up two times faster than the rest of world. They said this phenomenon has been observed over the last 50 years. According to reports, Water, Ice, Permafrost and Snow cover have been decreasing rapidly in the region.
Reports said, “The Arctic Ocean could be largely free of sea ice in summer as early as the late 2030s, only two decades from now.“The recent recognition of additional melt processes affecting Arctic and Antarctic glaciers, ice caps and ice sheets suggests that low end projections of global sea level rise made by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are underestimated.”
The report also says we have already crossed the point of return. The melting ice in Arctic causes the sea water levels to increase, which reduces the characteristics of sea ice. With collective efforts, reducing greenhouse gasses emission, we can make sure that the harm doesn’t increase and it becomes redundant.
