Telangana Governor E. S. L. Narasimhan inaugurated the Phase 2 of the Metro Rail in Hyderabad today. The metro route is from Ameerpet to L.B. Nagar.

E. S. L. Narasimhan launched the route officially today at 12 P. M. The Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) Minister K. T. Rama Rao, Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) and other State Government officials attended the launch of the functional operation of the Metro Rail’s Corridor 1.

K. T. Rama Rao said, “Metro stations had world-class amenities and multiple transport options for first and last mile connectivity. Bicycles and electric vehicles have also been provided at the stations in addition to the other modes of transport.”

The route of the rail line will cover important landmarks like the Maozzam Jahi Market, Lakdi Ka Pul, Malakpet, Dilsukhnagar and the Telangana Legislative Assembly building near Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS.) The station at MGBS is considered as one of the largest stations in Asia.

The project is a big step towards growth and also considered as the best Metro Rail line equipped with modern facilities and innovation, making it, India’s second largest rail network after Delhi.

The rail line built by L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited counts as the largest Public Private Partnership project worth Rs. 14,000 crores.

MD and CEO of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited K. V. B. Reddy in a video message said, “For Hyderabadis, it is again a special occasion because it is a jewel in the crown for the city’s urban transport system. This is the most eco-friendly and pollution free way to travel. It also has high safety standards and will transport people from LB Nagar to Miyapur and ultimately from Hitec city to Nagole and JBS to MGBS and thereafter.”

The work for the metro lines between Ameerpet and Hitec city is in progress and is expected to complete by the 15th of December this year. The project covering the stretch from Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) to the MGBS on Corridor 2 is expected to be inaugurated by the month of April 2019.
