The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB,) on the 8th of October got permission to inquire about the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) officials for alleged financial irregularities in medicine supply.
On the 27th of September, the ACB officials arrested Dr. Ch. Devika Rani, the Director of Insurance Medical Services (IMS,) and 5 others. The ACB officials arrested Dr. Devika Rani and the other ESI officials and presented them in front of the ACB court. The ACB court granted them remand custody.
However, in proceedings of the case, the Court agreed to the ACB officials and allowed them the custody of the suspects and gave permission for interrogation.
The 6 members who are in remand custody in the Chanchalguda jail are Vasantha Indira, the Assistant Director of the Insurance Medical Services (IMS,) pharmacist Radhika, Senior Assistant Harshvardhan, Omni Medicines Managing Director Srihari and Nagaraju.
The ACB court directed the ACB officials to take them to the ACB headquarters in Banjara Hills and interrogate them regarding the financial regularities in the medical supplies.
All the 6 wrongdoers will be under the custody of ACB till the 10th of October.
The ACB officials arrested 13 people so far and investigation regarding the ESI scam is still underway.
