The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government witnessed a major setback after many leaders and corporators of the party quit.
On the 3rd of July, Sunday, Ms. Parijatha Narsimha Reddy, the Mayor of Badangpet Municipal Corporation, submitted her resignation letter to Mr. Manchireddy Kishan Reddy, the TRS President of Rangareddy district, and cited ‘personal reasons’ to quit the TRS.
However, later, Ms. Parijatha Narsimha Reddy issued a statement and said, “Unfortunately, some leaders are against us. For our self-respect, we have decided to quit the party and join Congress (sic.)”
Besides Badangpet Mayor Ms. Parijatha Narsimha Reddy, four other corporators including Mr. Peddbavi Sudarshan Reddy and Mr. Rallaguda Srinivasareddy also resigned from the TRS. After submitting their resignation, the corporators and the Mayor joined the Indian National Congress unit in Telangana.
After the announcement of Badangpet Corporation officials joining the Indian National Congress was made official, the TRS District President Mr. Manchireddy Kishan Reddy issued a statement. In the issued notification, Mr, Manchireddy Kishan Reddy said, Mayor Parijatha Narsimha Reddy and two corporators are being expelled from the party.
Furthermore, if sources are to be believed, the former Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) of the TRS are also expected to join the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC.) However, details of the MLAs and confirmation regarding the joining of the TPCC are awaited.
