Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana claimed that 12 Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) are in talks with the BJP.
Addressing the media, Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar said, the TRS MLAs were ready to join the party. He added, “There will be a series of byelections in Telangana soon, just as one that will be held in Munugode constituency.”
During his Praja Yatra, Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar said, “They (12 MLAs) will quit after people from their constituencies prepare the ground for their leaving the TRS by bringing pressure on the MLAs.”
Furthermore, feeling confident over the BJP unit in Telangana, Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar said if elections were held today, the BJP would win 62 seats. The Assembly has 119 seats and the half-way mark is 60. Mr. Bandi Sanjay Kumar said, “People are vexed with the TRS government and the days ahead will see more people turning away from the TRS and support the BJP and our vote share increase further.” He further added, “Ever since the (casino organizer) Chikoti Praveen Kumar case came to light after the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) entered the scene, word is doing the rounds that some members in the KCR family are connected to the case. Some TRS leaders whose names are doing the rounds as being involved in the casino and gambling run by Praveen have shut their offices. But all the details will come to light soon.”
Notably, the Telangana Assembly elections would be held in 2023 and political parties like the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the BJP are trying to strengthen their parties in the State.
