The officials of the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Telangana, on the 11th of July, arrested Lavanya, the Keshampet Tehsildar of Rangareddy district.
Two years ago, Telangana officer V. Lavanya was named as the State’s “Best Tehsildar.”
The ACB officials raided Lavanya’s house in Hayathnagar, Hyderabad. During the raid, the officials found Rs. 93.5 lakhs cash and approximately 490 grams of gold, worth crores.
Ms. Lavanya’s bounty affairs came to light after M. Antaiah, a junior village revenue officer (VRO,) following the instructions of Lavanya, was caught taking a bribe of Rs. 4 lakhs from a farmer.
Bhaskar, a farmer of Rangareddy district, was asked to pay a sum of Rs. 8 lakhs to Antaiah, Rs. 5 lakhs for Lavanya and Rs. 3 lakhs for Antaiah, for correcting Bhaskar’s online land records.
As soon as Antaiah asked for the money, Bhaskar informed the ACB officials regarding the same, following which, the officials formulated a plan and caught Antaiah red handed. Soon after Antaiah took the money, the ACB officials informed their superiors, raided Lavanya’s residence and detained her for interrogation.
Lavanya was arrested on the 11th of July.
Antaiah and Lavanya will be produced in the Nampally Civil Court soon after their trials in the ACB’s special court.
