The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) postponed the ‘Sadak Bandh’ protest, scheduled to be held on the 19th of November.

Opposition parties like the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS,) the Indian National Congress (INC) and the BJP planned the protest against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS.)

However, after the Telangana High Court (HC) referred the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) strike case to the Labour Court, the BJP postponed the protest.  The protest was in support of the TSRTC employees, who are requesting the TRS Government to hold talks with them.  The TSRTC employees want the TRS Government to agree to their remaining demands after they temporarily dropped the merger demand.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Police, on the 18th of November, arrested several leaders of the BJP and the INC and their supporters to prevent them from staging the ‘Sadak Bandh’ protest.

E. Ashwathama Reddy, the Convenor of the Joint Action Committee (JAC,) on the 18th of November, called off his hunger strike.  He said though he called off the hunger strike and the BJP’s Sadak Bandh was postponed, the TSRTC strike would continue until the TRS agrees to hold talks with the TSRTC employees.

The TSRTC strike, which started on the 5th of October, entered its 46th day on the 19th of November.

Stay tuned for further updates.
