To ensure women’s safety in Telangana, the Telangana Police decided to link all the cab service apps across Hyderabad with the HawkEye app.
HawkEye is an application launched for ensuring the safety of women and is being supervised by the Telangana Police.
According to sources, all the cab service providers in Telangana were directed to verify the details of each and every driver before hiring them and also recheck the details of the existing drivers.
The decision was taken during a meeting which was held on the 5th of December. Anjani Kumar, the Police Commissioner of Hyderabad, chaired the meeting with 15 cab service providers.
Commissioner Anjani Kumar also asked the cab service providers to conduct a survey and take feedback from customers regarding the service and behaviour of the drivers.
In the past week, the Telangana Police and the State Government took several key decisions for women’s safety. Recently, the Education Department of the Telangana Government announced martial arts training would be mandatory for girls.
Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) allowed women to carry pepper spray with them in Metro trains. The Women Safety Wing of Telangana started an awareness programme across Telangana.
The meeting was held at the office of Commissioner of Police of Hyderabad on the afternoon of the 5th of December.
