The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC,) till the 19th of March, sealed as many as 140 commercial places like malls and others for violating Government Order (GO.)
Recently, the Telangana Government issued a GO, directing all commercial places like parks, malls, theaters and others to close in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus.
The order was issued as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 virus in the State.
Despite the orders of the State Government, many clubs, educational institutions, gym, swimming pools and others were open, which was a violation. Regards to this, Directorate of Enforcement, Vigilance & Disaster Management wing of the GHMC, sealed 140 commercials. The Director of the EV&DM started a scrutiny drive against the violators and closed them with a hefty fine.
The 18 teams of the GHMC under section 2 of Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897, sealed 52 institutions, 35 Gyms, 6 Schools, 5 Fitness studios, Study rooms, Bar, Restaurants, Function Halls, sports clubs and study halls.
Till date Telangana reported 13 cases of COVID-19 and are being treated at theState Run Gandhi Hospital.
