COVID-19 – Karimnagar To Be Sanitized With Drones

Karimnagar is a sensitive area especially, after eight Indonesians staying there tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19. The Telangana Government is in full swing to prevent the spread of the virulent Covid-19.

In one such measure, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government and the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation is using the Marut Drones company to deploy drones for spraying disinfectants in public areas.

The measures to spread disinfectants using drones were taken up by China, Italy and South Korea.  Now the Indian State of Telangana is also using the same technique for Karimnagar.

Prem Kumar Vislawath, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of  Marut Drones, addressed the media and said, “Marut Drones has earlier developed customised drones for anti mosquito operations on lakes/nalas.  The same could be extended for disinfectant operations in public places such as roads, bus stations, railways, MMTS stations, streets, factories, warehouses, airports, etc., with a high possibility of virus existence.  These operations could be taken up at night times for faster and uninterrupted operations. We are piloting it in Karimnagar and we may replicate this in other cities and towns.”

The reason to use drones for the spraying of chemicals to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is that drones cover more ground than traditional methods and reduces a lot of risks  for workers who would perform the task.

Besides this, the speed of the work is 50 times more than the old traditional way keeping  human operators out of harm as drones can be quickly mobilised.

The Telangana Government imposed a lockdown till the 31st of March.  Shops, Schools, colleges, gyms and all public places are shut. Only medical services and shops selling essential commodities like milk, vegetables and other items are open.  However, there are certain restrictions imposed on the shops which will remain open during the lockdown. Shops selling essential goods need to shut down by 6:30 P.M., people are advised to stay indoors mostly.

Till date, the Telangana Government reported as many as 33 COVID-19 positive cases. All the patients are currently undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad and are in a stable condition.
