Recently, many cases were reported where foriegn returnees are silently coming back to their homes despite asking them to be self quarantined.

In regards to this, the Telangana State Government  issued a notice and appealed to the citizens to inform the Telangana Police and State Government if they notice any foriegn returnees in their neighbourhood.  The official announcement of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government came after several reports of foreign returnees came to light, putting people residing in the locality at risk.

Arvind Kumar, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary, took to Twitter and  said, “Anxious neighbours are calling up and messaging details of foreign returnees in their neighbourhood.”

Mr. Kumar also released a list of concerned officials and their contact details who have to be contacted in such a case.

Responding to the tweet, a twitterati said, “Sir, I already tried the helpline with no progress.  We reported about a reckless home quarantine person, who has put 300 residents in danger by not apprising us.  Even after three days, no sanitation activity is done in our apartment. The family is not following any quarantine instructions.”

On the other hand, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) are also keeping a track and a close watch on people, especially foriegn returnees.

The  official Twitter accounts which could be used  to report the returnees in the neighbourhoods are @GHMCOnline or @CDMAtelangana (outside GHMC limits) or email at [email protected].

They can also call the following helpline numbers: 91546-86549, 91546-86552, 91546-86558, 91546-86557.

With these updates, the Telangana Government reported a total of 36 COVID-19 cases till date.  If the residents of Telangana do not follow the lockdown and venture outside, the State Government is likely to impose curfew in the State.
