COVID-19 Updates – Telangana Govt To Geo Tag Quarantine Houses And Patients

AP Govt Forms Special Committee To Review COVID-19 Prevention

The Government of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are taking various steps to prevent the spread of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 in the two respective Telugu states.

On the 27th of March, the Telangana Government decided to set up geo tagging of homes of people infected with the Novel Coronavirus.  The State Government even asked the state police to use the TS Cop app for the set up of geo tagging houses and the COVID-19 cases.

K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, during a review meeting on the 27th of March, asked to tag the homes of those who recently returned from abroad and are self quarantine or in quarantine homes in the State.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC,)  Revenue and Police Officers and the Health Department officials were given the task to take charge and start geo tagging houses.  The concerned officials would collect all data like location, how long has the quarantine period been in effect, the identity proof and other official documents.

How Would This App Work For Geo Tagging?

As per the rules, the State Government asked to use the Telangana State Cop App, which is used for patrolling.  Later, the geo tagged location would be mapped on the Patrolling tabs, enabling it for the State police to track the houses and the people under quarantine.  The tagging would also help the police to ensure if the patients are getting essential medical support.

The State Health Ministry also asked the concerned officials to keep an eye on those who have a seal of quarantine on their hands for easy recognition.  The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) decided to do geo tagging after another 10 cases of COVID-19 were reported in just 24 hours.

Telangana currently has 59 COVID-19 cases.  All the patients are being isolated and are kept under observation in isolation wards at the State run Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, COVID-19, killed as many as 20 people and infected approximately 875 people in India.

Stay tuned for further updates.
