In the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, nearly 49 candidates have criminal records including 6 women. 

The candidates represent four major parties, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM,) the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP.)

A total of 96 cases are registered against them.

In this, the BJP candidates have the highest number of criminal records with 17 cases.

The TRS has 13 cases, the INC has 12 criminal cases and the AIMIM has 7 cases.

In 41 wards out of the total of 150, candidates have criminal records.

In the Malkajgiri ward, all the contesting candidates from main parties have criminal records.

Preetham Kumar Reddy of the BJP contesting from KPHB Colony ward tops the list with nine criminal cases followed by Mohammed Mustafa Ali of AIMIM of the Shah Ali Banda ward, with seven cases.

Akula Rupa of TRS from the Monda Market ward and T. Srinivas Reddy of the BJP from the Mailardevpally ward has five cases registered against them.

The GHMC elections are scheduled to be held on the 1st of December.

The results of the GHMC elections would be announced on the 4th of December.
