K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) clarified about alliances between the TRS and the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC.)
On the 19th of November, the Telangana Minister addressed a meet the press, programme organized by the Press Club of Hyderabad.
During the meeting Mr. Rao said there is no alliance between the TRS and the AIMIM for the GHMC elections.
Mr. Rao said, “As we had done in the past, we shall contest in all the 150 divisions. In the last elections, the TRS won five seats in the MIM strongholds. This time, we are aiming at winning 10 seats.”
The statement of KTR came after rumors that the Mayor post would be offered to a MIM corporator.
KTR said, “After the results on December 4, it will be a TRS woman corporator who will be made the Mayor.” The Hyderabad Mayor post is reserved for a woman from the general category this time.
The GHMC elections are scheduled to be held on the 1st of December and the results would be announced on the 4th of December.
The three major parties contesting the GHMC elections are: the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP,) the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the Indian National Congress (INC.)
