Highlights of Telangana Assembly Session: KTR Introduced Four Bills For Approval

The Telangana Assembly session which is scheduled for only two days, started at 11:30 AM today.

Highlights of Today’s Assembly Session:

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) introduced four bills for discussion.

K.T. Rama Rao, the Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA and UD) of Telangana, introduced the bills. 

The four bills includes the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) (Amendment) Bill, Indian Stamp Bill (Telangana) 2020, Criminal Procedure Code Amendment Bill 2020

and the Telangana Agriculture Land Amendment Bill (Conversion Non-Agricultural Land) 2020.

The bills were approved by the ruling Government on the 10th of October, during a Cabinet meeting.

Of the total four bills, the Assembly Session approved the GHMC (Amendment) Bill 2020.

According to the discussion, the TRS Government proposed 5 amendments to the GHMC Act 1995. 

According to the amendments made, now 50% of seats will be allocated to women, a women’s committee would be formed, a youth committee and a senior citizens’ committee would also be formed. 

Mr. Rao further said, 4 types of ward committees would be formed in each division of Hyderabad with nearly 25 members from each division.

The Assembly session day 1 was concluded with a small debate over these bills and COVID-19 situation.

In addition, a few Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) representing the opposition party did not attend the session. 

Besides a MLA of the Communist Party of India (CPI) and Indian National Congress (INC) each, no one from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attended the Assembly session.

The session is scheduled to end on the 14th of October..
