Variety, an official Hollywood magazine with all the predictions and predicted lists of contenders for the upcoming (2023) Oscars and Emmy Awards, released a list of nominees, contenders and commentary of the grand events of the film industry, across the globe.
As per the website, Telugu superstar N.T. Rama Rao Jr, has been named as an “Unranked possible contender” for the best actor in the 2023 Oscars. The Telugu superstar has been named for his recent release RRR directed by Mr. S.S. Rajamouli and distributed by Raftar Creations.
Released on the 25th of March, 2022, RRR was the biggest blockbuster movie, which entered Rs 500 club and had a box office collection of Rs. 1,200 crores and was the highest grossing movie in the Indian cinema. The film was produced by DVV Entertainment and was a pan India film, released in four languages.
The story of the movie is about two real life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju played by actor Ram Charan and Komaram Bheem played by Jr. N.T. Rama Rao. The film is about their fight against the British Raj in 1920. Furthermore, the plot also explores the undocumented period in their lives when both the revolutionaries chose to go into obscurity before they began the fight for their country.
The film not only was appreciated in India but got acclaimed in foreign cinema for the execution, direction and story.
Meanwhile, this is the first time that an Indian actor has been included in Variety’s best actor prediction list for the Oscars. Besides, Jr. N.T. Rama Rao, other names on the list include popular personalities like Nicholas Cage, Chris Evans, Adam Sandler, Tom Hanks and Cassey Affleck.
Besides having Jr. N.T. Rama Rao, the Hollywood magazine even included Mr. S.S. Rajamouli as the Best Director in the prediction list. This is a proud moment for India, as RRR has amazed the global audience.
The fans of the Tollywood star and director are also going gaga over the fact that the two prominent names of the Tollywood Industry, made it to the prestigious prediction list for the biggest film awards, the Oscars.
