On the 22nd of October, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) wrote to the Election Commission of India (ECI.) The letter written to the ECI was against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mr. Eatala Rajender.

In the letter, the TRS alleged the former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Huzurabad and candidate of the BJP is opening new bank accounts in the Huzurabad assembly. They said, the new bank account has been opened to distribute money to the voters, so the BJP would win the upcoming Huzurabad Assembly by election, scheduled on the 30th of October.

The letter was addressed to Mr. Shashank Goel, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana and was written by Mr. M. Srinivas Reddy, The General Secretary of the TRS.

The letter read, “The activity is a grave offence and out and out corrupt practice under the provisions of various penal laws and as well in contravention of (the) Model Code of Conduct.”

Mr. Srinivas Reddy said he has “reliable information” about the alleged opening of new bank accounts by Eatala Rajender and his associates. He said, “During the last several days we have been bringing several illegalities of BJP party and its candidate Eatala Rajender to your notice. But (sic,)unfortunately no action is taken, in spite of the fact (that) we have provided you impeccable evidence…” He concluded the letter and asked the ECI to look into the matter and investigate the same.

Meanwhile, since the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) was implemented in the Huzurabad constituency, thethe ECI asked the TRS Government to stop Dalit Bandhu Scheme, temporarily in the region. The scheme has been halted in the Assembly Constituency until the 30th of October, the date of the by poll.

It is to be noted, after the resignation of Mr. Eatala Rajender as the Huzurabad MLA and the TRS member, the Huzurabad Assembly seat fell vacant. With the political tension between Mr. Eatala Rajender and the TRS President Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Huzurabad by election is said to be a serious battle between the BJP and the TRS. Since Mr. Eatala Rajender joined the BJP and is to contest the Huzurabad by election on a BJP ticket, the chances of victory of the BJP and the TRS are at 50-50. Both the parties are trying to get the attention of voters and gain the maximum number of votes for their respective MLA candidates.

The by election for the vacant post of the Huzurabad Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) would be held on the 30th of October. The counting of the votes would be held on the 2nd of November, following which results would be announced
