The Hyderabad Airport and the Mumbai Airport would soon begin international flights to the United Arab Emirates (UAE.)

According to sources, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA,) Hyderabad and the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA,) Mumbai are starting work to begin flights between India and the UAE.

In regard to this, the COVID-19 rapid tests, equipment to ensure COVID-19 guidelines and others are being prepared at both the airports. In addition, the airports are also working to sanitize the entire premises and vaccinate all the staff. It is also noted, the security staff and scrutiny of passengers and their luggage would be enhanced to ensure safety amid the ongoing Wuhah virus pandemic.

The UAE first suspended air travel to and from India in April as the latter battled a devastating second wave of COVID-19; the ban was later extended till July 6. According to the latest updates, flights from India to Dubai and Abu Dhabi are set to resume on July 15 and July 21.

A source familiar with the arrangements, who wished to be anonymous said, “We also have a lab right inside the airport to help the passengers get the report at the earliest.” The source further said, “We already have the facilities at the departures as well as the arrivals and we have ample counters to meet requirements.”

On the other hand, the Hyderabad Airport also collaborated with Mapmygenome, a COVID-19 testing lab certified by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for testing at the airport.

These labs at the airport would be functional 24×7 for passengers and staff at the airport.

With this the international flights between India and UAE would resume from the 21st of July. The Union Government imposed a ban on the India-UAE flights since April 2021, during the second wave of the Novel Coronavirus. Since then, the imposed ban was extended twice, the 6th of July and the 21st of July.
