Hyderabad Encounter – SC To Review Petition Filed Against Cyberabad Police

The Supreme Court (SC) is going to review a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed against the encounter and extra judicial killing of the 4 accused in the Disha rape and murder case.

G.S. Mani, an advocate of the SC filed the PIL and sought an investigation against the Cyberabad Police Team, who killed the four accused.

On the 9th of December, G.S. Mani presented the PIL in front of S.A. Bobde, the Chief Justice of India (CJI.) However, the CJI scheduled the hearing to the 11th of December. The CJI asked Mr. Mani to wait for the petition being examined by the Telangana High Court (HC)

Meanwhile, on the 9th of December,  the Telangana HC reviewed the petition filed against the Cyberabad Police team to question the legality of the extra judicial killing.  The HC also directed the Telangana Police and the State Government to preserve the bodies of the culprits until the 13th of December. The bodies of the accused are preserved  at the Mahabubnagar Medical College. 

The Telangana HC adjourned the case to the 13th of December stating, it would review the matter after the SC examines the petition.  The Court also directed Prakash Reddy, a senior advocate of the Telangana HC to mediate the process and update the Court with the proceedings in the SC.

Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission also took the suo moto case against the Cyberabad Police team and launched the investigation for the same.

After the NHRC investigation and the SC’s verdict, it would be decided if the justifications given by the Police to encounter are considerable or not.

The investigation in the Hyderabad encounter case is underway.
