The GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) in partnership with Telangana Overseas Manpower Company Limited (TOMCOM) launched a help desk for migration services at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad.
Launched on the 11th of May, Wednesday, the Migrant Help Desk is dedicated to vulnerable migrants traveling abroad, especially those traveling from and to, Kuwait and Qatar. However, the launch of this new help desk is currently functioning on a trial basis and would be permanent after observations of the organizers. Ms. Rani Kumudini, the Special Chief Secretary of Telangana would be supervising the operation of the help desk in the presence of GHIAL CEO Pradeep Panicker, and other senior officials from the airport community.
Furthermore, after the inauguration, Mr. Pradeep Panicker said, “Quite often, most of these migrant workers are ignorant of the procedures and documentation needed for emigration clearance and other purposes. The presence of a dedicated migrant help desk will help in scrutinizing the documents of the travelers, impart awareness, and guide the passengers in emigration clearance.”
The new help desk would help and guide vulnerable migrants like domestic workers, housemaids, and laborers to name a few, on the proper documentation and paperwork needed for emigration clearance. It would also raise awareness about safe and legal migration in India. Available at the international departure terminal, the desk would be functional round the clock.
