A native of Hyderabad studying in the Philippines sent a SoS (a way to call for help in the case of an emergency) to the Telangana Government and the Indian Government, asking for help.

On the 4th of August, Ms. Navya Deepthi, a Hyderabadi girl studying medicine in Emilio Aguinaldo College (Philippines,) was stranded in Manila (the capital of the Philippines) airport.  After spending a sleepless night at the Manila Airport due to immigration issues and her blocked passport.  The immigrant officials informed Navya that her passport has been blocked and she would be deported to India soon.

Notably, Navya Deepthi who is at Philippine’s Emilio Aguinaldo College, returned to India during the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and is returning back to college, as the situation improved.  However, at the Manila Airport, the officials stopped her and asked her to return to India.

Getting into the details, Navya Deepthi said, she has been living in Manila since 2018, but in 2020 she returned to India amid the pandemic.  While she was in India, her house owner in the Philippines pressured her to pay more, even after a deposit of Rs. 40,000.  Furthermore, the landlord demanded another Rs. 40,000 and threatened to block Navya’s passport, alleged Navya.

Navya also alleged that her house owner works in the Philippine Passport Office and might have blacklisted her passport.  As per Manila immigration officials, Navya’s passport has been blocked since 2020.

Concerned about her further studies and situation, Navya Deepthi asked for rescue and sent an SoS to the Indian Government and the Telangana Government.
