In Hyderabad, a popular nightclub came under scrutiny and is being criticized for it’s recent decision to incorporate live exotic wildlife into their premises.
The incorporation of wildlife at Xora Bar & Kitchen was part of a Wild Jungle Party theme, which has now sparked a wave of controversy and public outcry. The matter came into light after a video capturing the event went viral on various social media platforms.
Initially the video was shared on Instagram, but caught the attention of a vigilant Twitter user who promptly raised ethical and legal questions. He questioned the display of live animals in such an environment of pubs.
In the shared video, the Twitter user Ashish Chowdhary shared a viral footage in which several species of wildlife were seen confined within the club’s premises. In the tweet he said, “Xora night club put up exotic wildlife display in their premises over this weekend. The stories were up on their instagram page. Please do the needful (sic.)”
Soon Mr. Arvind Kumar, the Special Chief Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) took a serious note and assured investigation.
Taking to Twitter, Mr. Arvind Kumar said, “Taking it up with @TelanganaDGP @CVAnandIPS @TelanganaCOPs and PCCF. The audacity is shameful & shocking.”
Meanwhile, after an initial investigation, the organizers of the theme party at the club said that they displayed the animals for an hour and that they procured them from a person in Old City.
After an initial probe, it was revealed that Xora Club is not the first who has performed such a stunt, earlier also the same person provided animals to another club in Hyderabad. Inspired by the previous club, Xora Bar & Kitchen also decided to organize a wild life party for its customers on Sunday, the 28th of May.
Furthermore, the Hyderabad Police has registered a case and also informed the Forest Department officials to look into the matter.
