In August, the Hyderabad Police registered approximately 3,175 drunk driving cases, with a penalty of Rs. 45,54,551.
The Traffic Police of Hyderabad, Rachakonda and Cyberabad arrested those driving in an intoxicated condition. The Police imprisoned the individuals for one day to twenty days at the Cyberabad Police Station. Approximately 216 people were imprisoned in Hyderabad and 49 in Rachakonda. Out of them, a few in Rachakonda were in jail until a court hearing.
Anil Kumar, the Additional Commissioner of Traffic Police, said approximately 12 violators of traffic rules who were caught were without a licence and were jailed for the same.
According to sources, the individuals who were caught were sent to Chanchalguda Jail, Telangana.
The Police also cancelled the driving licences of two persons permanently, whereas 60 driving licences were suspended for a period ranging between one month to six years.
In July, the Hyderabad Traffic Police registered 2,536 drunk driving cases.
