On the 6th of February, fuel prices hit a new record in increased prices.

Within 24 hours, the prices of petrol and diesel increased by 31paise and 33 paise respectively.

On the 6th of February, petrol was priced at Rs. 90.42 per litre and diesel at Rs. 84.14 per litre.

The Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association, expressed disappointment over the increased prices and said, for the first time in Hyderabad, the petrol price has crossed the Rs. 90 mark and diesel at Rs. 84 per litre.

The rise in prices came at a time when India is trying to get back on track in terms of the economy.  After a year of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 pandemic and months of lockdown, increased fuel prices would impact lives of the common man and the middle class people, especially ones who own two wheelers.

Rajeev Amaram, the Joint Secretary (South), Consortium of Indian Petroleum Dealers, said, “Though fuel prices have reached an all time high in Hyderabad, there may not be much hike in the coming days.”

In the last three months, the petrol price went up by Rs. 6.17 a litre, to Rs. 90.42 while diesel price increased from Rs. 76.84 to Rs. 84.14 a litre.

The basic reason behind the increased prices is due to high rates of global crude oil prices.
