Hyderabad RGIA Airport on High Alert

On Sunday, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) , Hyderabad was placed on high alert after the central intelligence agencies issued alert about an email regarding flight hijacking. The Police said that they have strengthened the security and increased airport checking and patrolling after the alert was issued.

B. Anuradha, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Shamshabad had said, “An email was received by the Mumbai police from a woman alerting them about a possible flight hijacking at Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai airports on Sunday. We are on high alert and CISF personnel stepped up the security set-up at the airport.”

To increase security, the Octopus team was dispatched to the place and put on around the clock alert. The CISF personnel said, “Security has also been tightened at various places like the parking lot, departure and arrival blocks. Sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads were roped in for elaborate checks.” The RGIA is still under tight security and no incidents have been reported yet.
