Vijaya Reddy, a woman Tehsildar of Abdullapurmet mandal, was set ablaze by Suresh on the 4th of November.
The shocking incident took place around 1:30 P.M., at Tehsildar Vijaya Reddy’s office in Hayathnagar.
According to sources, Suresh allegedly poured petrol on Vijaya and set her on fire. He came to meet Tehsildar Reddy and after the incident, he walked out of the office. Meanwhile, Vijaya Reddy walked out of the room and screamed for help. Two employees present there tried to help her douse the fire but could not save her. She sustained serious burns and died on the spot.
The Abdullapurmet Police reached the spot and registered a case against Suresh, who surrendered immediately after the incident.
The body of Vijaya Reddy has been shifted to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary. The two officials who came to rescue Vijaya Reddy were injured and were shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Speaking about the reason behind his action, Suresh said he owns 7 acres of land in Bacharam village near the Outer Ring Road (ORR.) To speak about the issue and resolve it, he came to meet Tehsildar Vijaya Reddy. After speaking to her for half an hour, he set her on fire.
Mahesh M. Bhagwat, the Commissioner of Police of Rachakonda, said, “After speaking with her for a few minutes, Suresh doused the Tehsildar with fuel and set her ablaze before walking out. Two of the employees—an attendee and driver of the lady officer rushed inside and tried to save her. However, she ran onto the verandah in the building and collapsed before dying on the spot.”
Mr. Bhagwat also said, “We will also investigate how he managed to get into the chamber and if there is an insider role. A detailed investigation will be carried out.”
As of now, Suresh is in police custody and an investigation regarding the incident is underway.
