The Telangana State Pollution Board (TSPB) will soon get a sum of Rs. 10 crores to improve the air quality in Hyderabad.

The amount was approved under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP.)

A senior official of the TSPB said, “The funds have been approved under the NCAP. The plan is to create a grid of stations so as to better monitor the city’s pollution level.”

The TSPB will use the amount to set up 5 Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring stations (CAAQMS) in 2019 and 2 others in 2020.

The official of the TSPB, who wish to remain anonymous, said, “The CAAQMS will be placed in the areas after analysing site feasibility and in such a manner so as to represent residential, commercial and sensitive areas.”

However, an official announcement regarding the proposal is yet to be made.

As of now, Hyderabad has a total of 6 air quality monitoring stations.  It is also the only city in the Country to have air quality monitoring systems.

Stay tuned for further updates.
