Chandrashekar, the driver of the Multi Modal Transport System (MMTS) train which recently crashed with another train, is still in critical condition.

On the 11th of November, around 10:30 A.M., the MMTS train, after departing from the Malakpet station, collided with the Kurnool-Secunderabad Hundry Intercity Express near the Kacheguda Railway Station.

Eleven passengers and the MMTS driver were injured.  While many of them sustained minor injuries, a few of them were said to be in critical condition.

Chandrashekar is currently admitted at the Care Hospital in Nampally and is undergoing treatment.  Dr. Sushma Rani, the Superintendent of the Nampally Care Hospital, said he suffered a cardiac arrest when he was admitted and was revived with the help of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR.)

Dr. Sushma said, “The loco pilot suffered from fractures in ribs, haemorrhagic shock. Internal bleeding is also suspected as there was blood in the urine. Blood supply to lower limbs had decreased.”

Multiple specialty doctors like nephrologists, vascular and orthopaedic surgeons and others are monitoring his condition.

As of now, Chandrashekar is on ventilator support and is receiving Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT.)

Stay tuned for further updates.
