Approximately 12 passengers who were injured in the Hyderabad train mishap are undergoing treatment at the Osmania General Hospital in Afzalgunj, Telangana.

On the 11th of November, two trains collided with each other near the Kacheguda Railway Station due to a glitch in the signalling system.  The incident took place around 10:30 A.M., when two trains, a Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) train from Malakpet and the Kurnool-Secunderabad Hundry Intercity Express, collided with each other.

According to sources, most of the injured passengers suffered minor injuries and fractures and are undergoing treatment for the same.

However, a passenger, identified as Shekhar, suffered serious injuries and is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU.)  Dr. Mohammed Rafi, the Resident Medical Officer of OGH, said, “Specialists from orthopaedic, ENT, anaesthesia, cardiology departments were alerted and are on the job.”

Out of the 12 injured passengers, only 4 of them who sustained serious injuries are under observation at the hospital, whereas the remaining passengers were discharged after receiving treatment.

The Railway Department authorities were on the spot until the rescue team saved every passenger.  Later, the Railway Department officials visited the OGH and spoke about the patients’ condition with the doctors.

The Railway Department also announced a compensation of Rs. 25,000 each to 3 patients.  G.V.R. Prasad, the Assistant General Manager, said based on the doctors’ reports, the Railway Department would give financial assistance of Rs. 25,000 to patients with serious injuries.

The South Central Railway (SCR,) on the 11th of November, constituted a committee of 6 members to conduct a probe regarding the train accident.

The investigation regarding the incident is underway.
