The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS,) on the 17th of July, scheduled a Cabinet meeting, where the Cabinet ministers will discuss regarding the new Municipal draft bill.

The Cabinet will also discuss other bills. It was proposed, these bills be passed during the two day Assembly session scheduled to take place on the 18th and 19th of July.

The TRS Government organised the two day Assembly session specifically to pass the draft bills.

The draft bills are for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC,) the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA,) all the municipalities and the town planning and urban development authorities in the State.

After the approval of the Municipal Act, it will come into force, following which, the State Election Commission will issue a notice with the dates to conduct the Municipal elections.

Apart from discussing the Municipal Bill, the Cabinet will also discuss increasing the retirement age of the professors of government medical colleges from 58 to 65, making amendments to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill for a new tax collection system and shifting the Secretariat to a new complex.

The meeting is scheduled to be held on the 17th of July and will be chaired by K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana.
