Hyderabad Witnesses Hike In Cylinder Prices, New Cost Is Rs 846.50

After increasing crude oil prices, Hyderabad witnessed a rise in the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) domestic cylinder.

On the 25th of February, LPG cylinder (14.2 kg) prices increased by Rs. 25 per cylinder.

With this, in Hyderabad, each cylinder now costs Rs. 846.50 as against the previous Rs. 821.50.

This is the third time in February that the cylinder prices have increased. The last two times, prices were increased by Rs. 25 and Rs. 50 on the 4th and the 15th of February respectively.

If the price continues to increase, it might affect the sales of cylinders.

K. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the General secretary of Telangana LPG Dealers Association said, “In rural areas, consumers will switch to traditional fuel like wood or coal and in urban areas, consumers will move to electric modes for cooking.”

There are 1.18 crore cooking gas connections across Telangana with an average consumption of 50 lakh cylinders per month.

Besides LPG cylinder prices, petrol and diesel prices also touched all time highs in the City.

Agitated by the continuous increase in cylinder prices, especially when there is a pandemic induced economic slump, several residents demanded the government to lower the LPG prices.

While in Hyderabad cylinder prices are Rs. 846.50, in Delhi costs are Rs. 794 and in Kolkata it is Rs. 820.

In Mumbai, a cylinder now costs Rs. 794 and in Chennai it is Rs. 810.
