The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on the 16th of July, issued an orange and predicted heavy rains till the 19th of July, Sunday.
According to the IMD officials, “A brief interval is expected on Thursday and also part of Friday, followed by another spell of heavy rains till Sunday morning.”
This year, Telangana received the highest rainfall of 120 mm in Khanapur of Warangal Rural district and Bheemini of Mancherial district till the morning of the 16th of July.
Due to the heavy rains, tanks, streams and drains are overflowed in erstwhile Khammam.
Several water bodies including tanks, reservoirs and other projects have started receiving huge inflows with many of them brimming with water due to the continuous rainfall.
Meanwhile, this monsoon Telangana received more amount of rain than usual. Overall rainfall recorded in Telangana was 172.8 % rainfall with 30 % more, this monsoon.
In June, Telangana recorded 172.8 mm rainfall. In 2019 June, Telangana recorded 129.2 mm rainfall.
During the period of June 1 to July 15, the State received cumulative rainfall of 318.6 mm against normal rainfall of 236.66 mm, 35 % more than usual.
