KOn the 18th of August, India reported a rise in the Wuhan virus cases, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.) After reporting 25,166 new cases on Tuesday, the 17th of August, the single day cases once again increased by 40 % with 35,178 new cases.
On the morning of the 18th of August, Wednesday, India reported 35,178 new cases, 37,169 recoveries and 440 new deaths in the past 24 hours.
Of the new cases, the maximum number of cases were reported from Kerala, which has the highest number of COVID-19 active cases. Kerala reported 21,613 new cases, taking the active cases tally to 1,75,180 followed by Maharashtra with 4,408 new cases taking total active cases to 61,306.
Besides Kerala and Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh also have the highest number of active COVID-19 cases with 21,481, 20,225 and 16,341 respectively. Mostly the South Indian region has the maximum number of Wuhan virus active cases, except Telangana.
In the South Indian region, Telangana is the only State with below 500 cases of the Wuhah virus and total active cases below 7,000 (6, 939.)
The new COVID-19 figures were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry today morning, whereas the updated data is available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)
With this, currently India has 3,22,85,857 positive cases, of which 3,14,85,923 are recovered/discharged cases, 3,67,415 are active cases and 4,32,519 are deceased cases.
Of the total cases,1.14% are active cases, 97.52 % are recovered case rate and 1.34 % fatality rate.
The new cases were confirmed after conducting 17,97,559 sample tests for COVID-19. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 49,84,27,083 samples have been tested for COVID-19 till date.
Meanwhile, so far a total of 56.60 crore vaccine doses have been administered in India including 55 lakh doses given in the past 24 hours.
