In a recent meeting, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, announced the Dalit Bandhu Scheme to be extended to four more mandals.

Under the announced Dalit Bandhu scheme, the financial benefits would empower Dalits in Telangana. The Dalit Bandhu Scheme (Dalit Empowerment Program) would provide financial assistance to Dalit families. The Chandrashekar Rao Government would provide Rs. 10 lakh financial assistance directly to the bank accounts of Dalit beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Dalit Empowerment Programme. The eligible families selected as beneficiaries from 119 Assembly constituencies would receive the money to make them financially stable and self sufficient.

On the evening of the 13th of September, Mr. K. Chandrasekhar Rao held a review meeting and extended the scheme to Chintakani mandal in Madhira constituency, Tirumalagiri mandal in Thungathurthy constituency, Charagonda mandal in Achampet constituency and Nizamsagar mandal in Jukkal constituency.

It is to be noted, initially on the 1st of September, the KCR Government decided to extend the scheme to the aforementioned mandals. However, an official announcement regarding the same was made on 13th of September. During the preparatory meeting at Pragati Bhavan, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao said, “The scheme was introduced with a noble and definitive objective of freeing the Dalits from the age old evil social and economic discrimination, empowering them and enabling them to stand in society as business class.”

During the meeting, Mr. Rao discussed the arrangements for the implementation of the Dalit Bandhu programme of promoting entrepreneurship among the Dalits and Scheduled Castes (SCs) in four more mandals.

Mr. Rao further said, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government would release funds in the next two three weeks, following which the scheme would be implemented.

KCR also cleared the rumours that the scheme is a campaign stunt to gain votes for the upcoming Huzurabad by election. He said, the opposition parties like the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC) are spreading misinformation regarding the scheme to outrage people against the ruling TRS Government.

He urged people, especially Dalits and SCs not to believe them and trust the ruling Government, which is working towards the growth and development of the community. As of now, the pilot project of the Dalit Bandhu scheme has been launched in the KCR adopted Vasalamarri village and Huzurabad Assembly constituency.

Stay tuned for further updates.
