KCR Approves Covid-19 Tests In Private Hospitals, Orders Random Test In 5 Districts

K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, on the 14th of June, approved private hospitals and laboratories to conduct the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 tests and treatment.

The decision was taken in the wake of the rising numbers of Coronavirus infection in the State. 

He also directed the officials concerned to handle COVID-19 situation, to tests on about 50,000 people in approximately 30 Assembly constituencies of 5 districts in and around Hyderabad.

During the high level meeting held on the 14th of June at Pragati Bhavan, KCR directed the officials to prepare guidelines and fix prices for the coronavirus tests and treatment.

The five districts are Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad and Sangareddy.  These districts are also said to be containment zones for the spread of the Novel Coronavirus. 

Whereas, the Assembly constituencies where the test would be conducted includes

Uppal, LB Nagar, Maheswaram, Ibrahimpatnam, Rajendranagar, Seri Lingampalli, Chevella, Pargi, Vikarabad, Tandoor, Medchal, Malkajgiri, Qutballpur, Kukatpally, Malakpet, Amberpet, Musheerabad, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Sanath Nagar, Nampally, Karawan, Gosha Mahal, Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Yakutpura, Bahadurpura, Secunderabad, Secunderabad Contonment, and Patancheru.

Chandrashekhar Rao said Hyderabad is one of the major metropolitan cities in the country with a large population of Telangana.

Mr. Rao said,“Despite the low prevalence of coronavirus in the State, more positive cases are being reported every day in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.  This must be completely avoided by taking precautionary measures. ”  He further added, “The officials must prepare necessary guidelines and price lists immediately.” 

Speaking about the treatment, Mr. Rao said, “People who do not have any symptoms, but have tested positive for Covid-19, will be provided home treatment.  The tests are being conducted only as a precautionary measure. Hence, people need not panic. However, they must follow personal precautions especially those with pre-existing ailments.” 

Meanwhile, KCR assured complete treatment to COVID-19 patients and said the State Government is prepared with all equipments  and medical facilities needed for the treatment.

The Telangana Health department ensured stock of testing kits, Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits, N-95 masks, regular and ICU beds, ventilators and other facilities. 

Telangana Health Minister Eatala Rajender, State Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, Principal Secretary for the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) S. Narsing Rao, CMO Secretary Rajashekhar Reddy, senior health officials and doctors attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, Telangana reported a total of 4,974 cases of the Novel Coronavirus.  Out of the total, 2,412 are active cases, 2,377 recovered/discharge cases and 185 deceased.
