On the 22nd of October, K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, constituted a committee to examine the demands of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) employees.

KCR conducted a meeting with P. Ajay Kumar, the Transport Minister of Telangana and other officials of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS.)  The meeting was organised to discuss the ongoing TSRTC strike and the demands put forth by the TSRTC staff and union leaders.

During the meeting, KCR constituted a panel of 6 members to examine all the demands of the TSRTC staff and submit a report about the same.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO,) on the night of the 22nd of October, released a statement which reads the union leaders and TSRTC employees withdrew the demand for the merger.

The merging of the TSRTC with the State Government was one of the major demands of the TSRTC employees.

According to the released statement, “The trade union leaders initially announced that they would come for talks if only the State Government announces the merger of the RTC with the Government. They said merger was their first priority. But during the hearing on the RTC strike in High Court, they said they would not insist on the merger of the RTC with the Government.”

The KCR led Government also said based on the report of the committee, the TRS would take a decision and submit a report to the Telangana High Court (HC.)

During the meeting, KCR also criticised the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for extending support to the TSRTC staff and using the strike for political benefit.

KCR further asked the INC and the BJP whether they implemented the demands which the TSRTC employees were demanding, in the States ruled by the parties.

The TSRTC strike, which started on the 5th of October, entered its 19th day on the 23rd of October.

Stay tuned for further updates.
