K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, reviewed the current situation due to rainfall and instructed officials and public representatives to take preventive measures.

On the 22nd of July, Thursday, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao held the meeting and asked official to be on a war footing in the Godavari catchment areas following flood threats due to the heavy rains.

The Chief Minister asked the Telangana Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy to monitor the measures in Balkonda Assembly segment and in Nizamabad district which is witnessing heavy rainfall since the Tuesday night, the 20th of July.  He instructed the State Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to deploy the National Defense Rescue Force (NDRF) teams to Nirmal town which is submerged in water.

The Telangana CM also instructed district collectors, SPs, revenue officials, and R&B officers to take preventive measures in the Godavari catchment areas so that people do not face problems. He urged people living in these areas not to venture out of their homes and to remain cautious as lakes and rivulets are overflowing and breaching due to the heavy rains.  Besides the Godavari, Krishna catchment areas in the upper riparian states are also experiencing heavy rainfall due to which project gates in these states had been lifted.

KCR instructed the ministers and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to remain in their districts and constituencies in the Godavari and Krishna catchment areas and monitor the flood situation. He also instructed TRS leaders and cadres to be available in the Telangana Bhavan and monitor the situation.

Along with the officials in the catchments areas, the CM has instructed the TRS leaders from gram sarpanch to the ministers to ensure that people are not put to any hardships. Since there is a heavy to very heavy rain forecast for the next two days, KCR reiterated that people in these areas should not venture out and exercise caution. He also urged them to take care of their own safety and directed the public representatives to be on high alert and take necessary measures.
