After creating hype regarding the Dalit Bandhu Scheme launch from the Huzurabad Assembly constituency, the Telangana Government switched the launch to Vasalamarri village.

On the 4th of August, K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, launched the awaited Dalit Bandhu Scheme from Vasalamarri village of Yadadri Bhongir district of Telangana.

Under the announced scheme, the benefits would empower Dalits in Telangana. The Dalit Bandhu Scheme (Dalit Empowerment Program) would provide financial assistance to Dalit families. In regard to this, the Telangana Government planned to release Rs. 1,000 crores. The Chandrashekar Rao Government would provide Rs. 10 lakh financial assistance directly to the bank accounts of Dalit beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Dalit Empowerment Programme. The eligible families selected as beneficiaries from 119 Assembly constituencies would receive the money to make them financially stable and self sufficient. In total, approximately 11,900 Dalit families would receive Rs. 10 lakhs each.

Initially, the scheme empowering the Dalit Community of Telangana was scheduled to be launched on the 16th of August, from Huzurabad. However, the Telangana Government changed its plan and the unique scheme of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government was launched as a pilot project from Vasalamarri. It is also noted, Vasalamarri is the adopted village of KCR, for which he would personally supervise and see the progress and the development work. The launch was a sudden move of the Telangana Government, during a day visit of KCR to Vasalamarri.

While the pilot project was launched on the 4th of August, the money/financial assistance under the scheme would be provided on the 5th of August, Thursday.

A total of 76 families of Vasalamarri village would get benefits of the pilot project under the proposed Dalit Bandhu Scheme.

According to sources, the beneficiaries are free to utilise the given money to start business activity of their choice.

It is to be noted, before depositing the money, the State Government would deduct Rs. 10,00 from the provided Rs. 10 lakh and would use for Dalit Samrakshna fund, which would be given during their health crisis.

Stay tuned for further updates.
