K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, announced to set up a task force for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 situation in the State.

On the 9th of September, during the Telangana Monsoon Assembly Session, KCR announced the task force headed by an Indian Administration Service (IAS) officer. The task force would monitor the treatment and the charges made by corporate hospitals in the State.

The decision to do so was taken after several complaints were registered against private hospitals treating COVID-19 patients in the State.

Mr. Rao during the question hour of the Assembly, briefed about the task force and the COVID-19 situation in Telangana.

According to the orders of the Chief Minister KCR, the task force would be formed by the end of day on the 9th of September.

A senior IAS officer would release weekly reports which would be forwarded to the senior leaders of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the State Government.

The report regarding the COVID-19 situation in Telangana would also be sent to the leaders of the opposition parties.

Mr. Rao said, ” I have been telling that there must be monitoring on corporate hospitals. We have no other option than allowing them to admit Corona patients after the Court gave the permission. Now that they are found to extort money in the name of treatment that too at this troubled time, the government will now initiate stern action on them. Is this the time for the corporate hospitals to make money out of the misery of the people.” Speaking about introducing the Novel Coronavirus infection in Aarogyasri scheme, KCR said, “We also see if we can release money towards paying bills of white card holders who avail medical treatment for Covid in private hospitals.

In addition, K. Chandrashekar Rao said, the Telangana Government is also discussing to increase the medical budget in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

The Telangana Assembly Monsoon session conducted its third day since it started. The session started from the 7th of September and would continue till the 28th of September.
