K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, on the 10th of October, announced a ban on plastic bags in Telangana.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the citizens of India to avoid plastic, KCR also took initiatives and directed the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government officials to make rules regarding it.
The announcement was made during a day long conference with the district collectors at Pragati Bhavan, Telangana.
KCR also directed the officials to continue with the 30 day action plan, which aims towards the growth and development of villages in Telangana. It also promotes greenery and hygiene awareness in the villages of the State.
KCR said Telangana should become a plastic free state and to make it happen, the Government is expected to take strict action against individuals and firms using plastic after the ban.
According to sources, KCR will conduct a Cabinet meeting, specifically to discuss the ban on plastic usage in the State.
However, the official date of the Cabinet meeting is yet to be announced.
