On Thursday, the TOI news daily reported about a citizen of Afghanistan, Abdul Qahar who is presently at Osmania General Hospital (OGH,) for a post-bullet injury treatment. On Friday, the Telangana Chief Minister  K.Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) announced financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s relief fund and became a savior to the Afghan national.

The special secretary to CM KCR wrote to the OGH superintendent said, “The Hon’ble CM desires that the treatment of Sri Abdul Qahar, S/O Abdul Razaq, Passport number 01330926 Afghanistan, to be extended as the CM KCR has assured to sanction Rs. 1,35,000 after submitting the bills (sic).” The news brought a huge relief to Abdul Qahar and his guardian Abdul Razaq, who in Pashtun accent said, “Salaamat ahe! Salaamat rahe! Hum Allah aur hukoomat ke mashkoor hai! Yahan ke log ne humey bohot Mohabbat dikhaya (May there be peace! May there be peace! We are grateful to Allah and the government. The people here have shown us a lot of love.)

The health ministry office called the OGH that irrespective of his nationality the Afghan patient must be helped and hip replacement be carried out with immediate effect.

Qahar suffered a bullet injury after being caught in a crossfire between the radicals and security services in Afghanistan when a bullet hit him in the pelvic region. He was immediately flown to India after the incident for treatment and is presently under observation.
